I got a couple of responses this weekend from all my resumes. The first response came from Lynskey Performance, makers of super high end, custom titanium frames and original founders of Litespeed. Their response was simple and relatively degrading. They are currently only interested in sponsoring "top" races on both the road and mtb. Yeah, they put "'s around top in the letter. Ouch. The interesting part about it is that I've never actually seen anyone riding one of there frames, except for Topher and a rider in back of the Pro Womens field at Sugar Mtn, which I'm guessing was only because the race was so close to their TN based factory. Oh well. No number two came from Tifosi Eyewear, just the typical thanks but no thanks. Maybe next time.
After two dissapointing responses, I was thrilled to get an email response from CrankBros, with an offer for a Pro deal sponsorship. I'm pretty excited about it actually, cause they make some really sweet stuff and have by far the best customer service in the industry. As a new sponsor, their logo has made an appearence along the side of my blog...just trying to deal with the corporate aspect.

Just one more....alright, maybe two; Kayaks are sweet, droughts are not...
Racing is back, just for this weekend. The Bear Creek Short Track Series Finals presented by South Mountain Cycles are fast approaching. The final races of the season will be held this coming Saturday, the 27th. The start time has been pushed back to 3pm in order to accommodate for yet another South Mountain event, a 'cross race, earlier that morning. I'm not sure on the details for the first race but give SMC a call to find out more. Plans are to do both races as long as MTB's are permitted in the off-road road race. The short track race is being held during the Bear Creek Fall Festival so even if your not racing, it should be a good time. Music, food, and bikes guarantees a blasty for all. The event flier isn't very helpful but here it is, http://www.skibearcreek.com/summer/custEvent.aspx
I put in a solid 10 hours on the kayak this weekend. It was awesome. Its sorta like riding bikes, you can make it as easy or hard as you want. I went down the Perkiomen Creek all three days. Its pretty calm with a few rougher sections and lots of rocks to steer around. The only downside was the lack of rainfall the past few weeks. The lower water levels made it impossible to miss all the rocks and not get hung up in a few spots. After a solid rain storm the Perk should be perfect.
Don't forget, bicycle races are coming your way; so forget all your duties, oh yeah....

Down Time
My last posting has gotten a little stale and I'm well aware. I'm still chuckin' resumes at bike companies like crazy. I'm probably somewhere around 20 right now. I've gone on quite a few hikes in the last few weeks. A lot of them have been up at Hawk Mountain but I've also done a few right here in Michaux. Its got me thinking seriously about walking the whole trail again. My only dilemma is whether or not to take 4 or 5 months out of a racing season to do it. It sounds like a pretty big chunk of time but then again, it seems like it would be worth it. Just out of curiosity, I looked up the current record for thru-hiking the AT. My guess would have been somewhere around 90 days. Actually it was almost half that. 48 days. Unbelievable. That's an average of almost 45 miles a day. I guess that's out of the question for me...
Last week I also finally got a kayak. After making some serious coin at the Veloswap last week, I decided to go ahead and do it. I got it last Sunday afternoon and after driving home with it from French Creek Outfitters I dropped it off at home and immediately left for Ship. So I haven't gotten to use it yet, but that should all change tomorrow afternoon, when I have the whole day to cruise around. I'm gonna try to take the camera along with me and get some pics cause I've realized that almost all my posts are lacking visual support.
Riding time is at an all-time low, roughly once a week. And the meathead factory is almost becoming fun...I never thought I'd say that.
