Florida was a success. Matt and I got in a good week of training capped off with our first XC of the decade. My fitness was about what I expected given the time of year and the lack of high intensity riding so far. Lap times were 15-20 seconds faster every lap which left me overly satisfied at the end of the day. It was the best, first race I've had to date. Scary moment of the day was almost breaking my ankle after catching my toe on a piece of 2 inch steel cable buried in the ground. That would have made for an inconvenient drive home being my clutch foot. But then again, Matt swears you don't even need to use the clutch.
Speaking of the drive home, we were packed and rolling within an hour of the finish to get Matt to his 8am class the next morning. Bet you can't guess how many complete bikes are in there.

Let the pictures do the talking
Matt doesn't like that I'm making him ride so much. I couldn't care less. He'll thank me later. We've got 10 hours of riding in 2 days, a practice race, sunburn, and countless fun.
During yesterday's 101 mile shoreline ride: We stop around mile 75 for some food along the beach. I order a root beer and ask how big a basket of fries is. She brings the basket to show us. It's a healty size. I say "Alright I'll take two of them." She writes it down as she turns away. Matt stops her with "Hold on, I'll take two as well" There was a mild hesitation as she corrected her note. The fries were amazing.

Plates
Handmade by Jen and I at the pottery studio where she's been working. Place settings for 12, with small salad plates, larger dinner plates, and soup bowls. We made a variety of extra salad bowls and baking dishes to go with it too. Thank you JoAnn for allowing us to make these.
I wonder how long it'll be until I have a place of my own to use them in...
